Osram Lighting Project in Poland Wins Lighting Design Award

The winners of the Lighting Design Awards were distinguished for the fortieth time in London. Four of the award-winning projects were implemented with lighting solutions from Osram.

The Philharmonie Szczecin in Poland illuminated by Anoche was the winner in the "Community and Public Realm Project of the Year" category. A dynamic LED lighting and control solution by Traxon and e:cue installed behind the glass facade creates interplays of colour sequences and transforms the new concert hall in the Polish city of Szczecin into a giant, luminous crystal.

The Box Park in Dubai and the Noma Earth Tubes in Manchester also gained a special mention in the category. The three Noma Earth Tubes with a height of 5.60 meters were illuminated by Cundall Light4, and fulfil aesthetic tasks in addition to their function as ventilation towers. The three towers are transformed into high-impact communication tools thanks to the Osram and Traxon lighting installation. The lighting is able to visualize various topics such as local and global events and enables observers to interactively contribute to the design of colors and light patterns via gesture control or Twitter among other possibilities.

The winner of the "Leisure Project of the Year" category was the Expo 2015 UAE Pavilion in Milan designed by David Atkinson. Inspired by the typically traditional, sustainable architecture of the country, Foster + Partners developed a concept that can be easily dismantled and assembled again. The lighting design contains Traxon products among others.

The Lighting Design Awards are one of the world's most renowned honours in the architectural lighting sector, and projects from 17 countries were distinguished at this year's Lighting Design Awards in London.
