Macroblock Debuts AEC-Q100 Certified MBI5353Q for Automotive Use

Macroblock announced that its LED driver IC MBI5353Q is certified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 for automotive use. With a broad operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C, MBI5353Q is regarded as an ideal solution and offering prominent user experiences for applications of various automotive display and relevant automotive parts.

Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) is an organization founded by Chrysler, Ford, and GM, which established a high-quality standard for automotive electrical components to ensure the safety and reliability of vehicle operations. AEC-Q100 is considered as a general standard in present and a complete set of automotive qualification specifications, especially in LED and its ambient temperature range.

MBI5353Q is qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1, supporting an operating temperature range of-40°C to +125°C. Within the harsh conditions of ambient temperature range, performances of products and qualities are keys at this moment. MBI5353Q is a 48-channel LED driver IC with supporting up to 32-scan design. Each single driver IC can control up to 1536 dots; besides, it is capable of supporting a high number of zones and multiple independent single-dot controls. These features can be applied in fine pitch LED module design and can be displayed for road communication; meanwhile, light sources can be utilized zoning in individual control on each zone or dot, which realizes in new applications such as LED tail light stripe, entirely leading the edgy trend of the tail light.

MBI5353Q is suitable as a solution for digital cockpit and central infotainment display. By adopting direct-lit LED backlight in LCD with multi-channel driver ICs based on time-multiplexing design, light can be controlled individually to achieve local dimming and other effects requiring high intensity LEDs. The driver IC not only strengthens the dynamic contrast ratio but also solves unnecessary energy waste and product heating by controlling the brightness of LED independently and making the unrequired driver ICs into power-saving mode.

Macroblock is dedicated to LED driver IC technology development; meanwhile, the company keeps escalating the scope of the automotive IC market with the dedication of exploring the unlimited possibilities of automotive driver ICs. With implements in innovations, Macroblock will exhibit and showcase the best automotive LED driver IC solutions at Shanghai International Auto Lamp Exhibition(ALE) 2020.
