Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition 2009 — Taiwanese Manufacturers

Everlight

As Taiwan’s largest LED packager, Everlight certainly did not miss the event this year. Apart from LED components, the company also exhibited its LED lights for indoor and outdoor use. Shanghai Yaguang Lighting Co, Everlight’s China-based partner, also attended the event. As a result, the same LED lights could be seen in two exhibition halls.

At the exhibition, Everlight showed its Dolphin Streetlight series. The products are available in 60W, 90W, 120W and 150W, with CRI over 60 and luminous efficacy between 60~70Lm/W. As for office space lighting, Everlight introduced the Flat-Panel LED light which uses four 10W LED tubes to replace the traditional 60cm T5 tube. According to sales staff of the company, the four LED tubes are 44W altogether, more energy-efficient than the traditional 60W T5 tubes while offering the similar luminance (255 LUX@2M ).

Everlight also showcased its AC LED which currently come in 2W and 4W, with the luminous efficacy of 55~65Lm/w (@20mA). The products were estimated to enter mass production in the later half of this year.

BRT

Founded in 1981, BRT has been a specialized manufacturer of LED components. In recent years, the company has expanded its business to the end market of finished lights. This year, the company has set up its own lighting business department to formally step into the LED lighting market. Its manufacturing facility is located in Dongguan, Guangzhou.

Though BRT has rarely attended Taiwan-held exhibitions in the past, it made its presence at the event in Guangzhou and exhibited its LED streetlights, tunnel lights, as well as other outdoor lighting products. As to indoor lighting, the company used its ceiling T BAR lights and LED down lights to decorate the booth. By using LEDs for the lighting design of the whole booth, the company showed its capability in both outdoor and indoor LED lighting manufacturing.

The LED streetlights developed by BRT include the 30W, 60W, 100W, 150W and 200W models, with average luminous efficacy reaching around 60lm/W. Unlike its counterparts from other companies, the high power LEDs used in BRT’s streetlights have undergone optical processing during packaging, to ensure that the lights meet optical requirements of street lighting. Additionally, thermal pipes and fins were used for heat dissipation of the lights, to control the chip temperature of all types of LED lighting products at under 80℃.

Another focus of the company’s exhibition was the DimiCon output-reduction technology. During the first 6 working hours, from 18:00~00:00, the streetlights illuminate the street with 100% output, but from 01:00~06:00, they work at 50% of its output, effectively reducing energy consumption and carbon emission.

In addition, BRT also placed much emphasis on LED tunnel lighting, a segment which features stricter requirements than streetlights, and also a field in which the company has absolute advantage in terms of technology. LED tunnel lights outperform its traditional counterparts with longer lifespan, which saves the trouble of switching the bulbs, and the perfect thermal technology iThermo (Intelligent Thermal Conductive Technology) provides a lifetime of 25 thousand hours (L70%) of the lights.

Liquileds

Known for leveraging liquid technology for heat dissipation of its lighting products, Liquileds also attended the event this time. Limited by upstream AC LED supply, no 4W-plus single bulbs were seen on the exhibition.

Nevertheless, the company introduced the module-type LED bulbs at the show. Several 2W to 4W LED bulbs were integrated into a single module, making the lighting system design more flexible of catering to different lighting types and designs, thus facilitating the market expansion of replacing traditional fluorescent light bulb.

HPLighting

The Taiwan-based high-power LED packager HPLighting introduced its new product, the 4040 SHOCK and 3030 SHOCK, at the event. The 4040 (4mm x 4mm x 1.7mm) and 3030(2.8mm x 2.8mm x 1.7mm) are more compact than their former high-power models, and could provide an operational driving current of 700mA. A luminous efficacy of 80Lm could be reached under 350mA driving current.
