Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition 2009 — Chinese Manufacturers
GVO
Golden Valley Optoelectronics Co., Ltd (GVO) is a Sino-US joint venture based in Hebei, China. At the exhibition this year, the company showcased its multiaspect LED bulb which was awarded first prize in the illuminants category of China’s Electrical Lighting Product Prize.
The prizewinning product has 5 to 10 1W/3W LEDs packaged in a ring of light emitting source in the bulb to achieve 360-degree tridimensional lighting angle. The candle-type 1W bulb, for example, has a power of 1.7W and a luminous flux of around 90lm, with the illumination range approaching 4π, and the expected lifespan of 35 thousand hours. The main application of the product is to replace incandescent bulbs as well as crystal lamps in exhibition halls. However, with the evolution of LED technology, the competitiveness of the cost structure of this product remains a key focus.
AquaLite
Located in Wuhan Optical Valley of China, AquaLite Optoelectronics Co., Ltd was founded in 2006 with an investment capital of RMB 230 million. With its R&D staff from Shanghai Epiligh Technology Co., Ltd, the company is dedicated to manufacturing of high-power blue light LEDs. Its capacity of high-power chips reaches 10 million units per month.
AquaLite’s patents and technologies encompass vertical LED chip architecture. The company leverages the bonding and peeling crafts to provide solutions for heat dissipation and improved luminous efficacy. Currently, the 45mil chip achieves a luminous efficacy of 85Lm/W after packaged into white LED.

Foshan Lighting
The traditional lighting manufacturer, Foshan Electrical & Lighting Co., Ltd was founded in 1958, and has been listed on Shenzhen Stock Market (000541). At the event this year, to comply with the energy-saving policies of Chinese government, the company introduced its LED-relevant lights as well as its traditional lights with high luminous efficacy, showing its resolution of stepping into the solid state lighting field.
Though OSRAM is its largest share holder, Foshan’s LED lights are completely different to that of OSRAM. Unlike the technology of OSRAM, Foshan uses low-power LEDs in its packaging. The LED bar exhibited at the show had 120 low power LED chips sealed into one package, intended to replace traditional T8 tubes, with lifespan said to reach 30 thousand hours (L60).
Luminglight
Luming Science & Technology Group was founded in October, 1994. Currently, the group owns four affiliated companies, including Dalian Luming Optoelectronics Engineering Co., Ltd, Dalian Luminglight Co., Ltd, Dalian Lumei Optoelectronics Science and Technology Co., Ltd. and Dalian Photonics Industry Park Development Co., Ltd.
Dalian Luminglight Co. Ltd attended the event this year. The company mainly sells phosphor and lighting products. However, besides phosphor, very few lighting products were seen at the company’s booth at the exhibition.
Jingri Lighting
Founded in 1996, Jingri Lighting Technology Co.,Ltd is a Zhejiang-based traditional lighting manufacturer. The company invested heavily in marketing and booth decoration at the show, and had successfully attracted the attention of the crowd.
Jingri introduced several LED streetlights, landscape lights and other lighting products at the show. Its sales staff noted that the lights were developed by their own R&D staff after the company purchased the LED components from other manufacturers. The company invested heavily on module development of the exhibited LED lights, which demonstrated its strong financial backing.
TCL
TCL, the leading electrical appliance provider in China, also showed its LED-relevant lighting products on the exhibition. TCL group offers multimedia, electrical appliances, communication and other segments under its brand. TCL’s affiliated TCL Lighting Co., Ltd is in charge of lighting segment. At the event, the company showcased its LED streetlights, LED reading lamps, and other LED lighting products for indoor use.
