Photonics Festival in Taiwan 2011 – Special Lighting Applications of Taiwanese Makers Propel Prospects

The Spotlight of Photonics Festival in Taiwan 2011 Shines at Special LED Lighting Applications

According to LEDinside's survey , as the efficiency of white light LED improves, major manufacturers have been trying to make their ways into the promising LED lighting market, where the competition is intense: Everlight has begun developing lighting products for cosmetic surgery; Energyled Corporation has great success in the low-temperature lighting sector; ALT, Simon-Tech and Fong Kai have been making their into the grow light market. With the existing edge of LED, Taiwanese manufacturers aim to take advantage of the enormous market prospects by developing innovative applications.

The Market of LED Special Applications Set to Soar: Everlight Launches Products for Medical Applications

Although hospitals in advanced countries of Europe and America always demand LED lights for their medical equipment, the medical applications produced by global LED manufacturers are still very limited. Taiwan is not only the second largest LED manufacturing country but also the forerunner in medical application sector: LED dental light and spa light were the first examples of LED making its way into medical lighting sector. Taiwan’s LED dental curing light has received success in the European, American and Japanese markets. Recently, LED applications in medical sector have been generating increasing interests around the world as well as at this year’s Photonics Festival in Taiwan.

According to analysts of LEDinside, package manufacturer Everlight, which showcased its new product series at Photonics Festival 2011, has been taking aggressive measures such as increasing channels and expanding marketing to gain LED market share. In recent years, Everlight has also expanded its product lines into medical lighting and plant growth lighting. In 1Q11, Everlight reached cooperation agreements, which regard technology innovations of LED plant growth light, industry control, environment control, with several dozen international manufacturers including Philips Lighting, Mitsubishi Chemical, Panasonic, China Yanzi Group, Oulin, and its efforts have proven fruitful in the plant growth lighting sector. Currently, Everlight is seeking joint effort with several major hospitals to develop LED spa light, which has entered the human research stage and is expected to become the pioneer of LED spa light in the near future.

The Everlight LED spa light exhibited at Photonics Festival 2011 was equipped with an electrical controlling system which can make the LED module project lights of different colors and wavelengths (Red – 630nm, yellow – 590nm, blue – 415nm). The different energies generated by different wavelengths can provide medical uses by projecting the lights on face area. The product is 24x60cm in size and weighs only 5 kgs with a lifespan over 50 thousand hours. The product offers painless, safe and easily manageable medical cure which can accelerate active components of facial mask and help the skin absorb.

Energyled Corporation Makes Break into LED Low-Temperature Lighting Market

Constituting of a management team with decades of experience under its belt and a R&D team of innovative technology, Energyled Corporation possesses advanced knowledge of utilizing the traits of light sources to meet different needs from its clients. Aside from regular LED commercial lighting products, Energyled is well known for its LED low-temperature lighting products, which have made their ways into super markets and convenient stores in Taiwan and the cold storage market in Japan and drew a great deal of attention from domestic as well as foreign buyers.

Traditionally, the applications of low-temperature lighting mainly adopt fluorescent lights (20-40W) with prices from NT$ 100 to 700, which are much higher than that of regular fluorescent lights. And the high luminous decay, high energy consumption and the high maintenance cost of low-temperature make the electricity fee of refrigeration accounts for over 50% of the total electricity fee while the electricity fee of traditional fluorescent lights accounts for only 15%. However, if the stores adopt Energyled’s LED low-temperature lights, they can not only reduce the energy consumption by 50% but also better the product display quality and decrease the maintenance time by 30 thousand hours. For example, Walmart spent $ 13 million on changing the low-temperature lights of its 500 chain stores; and a renowned convenient store chain in Japan spent 17 billion yens on replacing their store lighting in Tokyo with LED lights. Energyled, with the great amount of achievement it has attained domestically and internationally, is bound to accomplish bigger success in the global LED low-temperature lighting market in the future.
