Taiwan’s TV brands as Tatung, Teco, Chimei, BenQ and Heran will introduce new LED-backlit TVs to meet expected surging demand in the second half of 2010.
Tatung 3C general manager Y.L. Chang said Tatung will launch 42-, 32- and 22-inch LED TVs in June and July. The company will see LED TVs account for over 20% of its total sales of all kinds of TVs in the second half of this year and contribute to 30% of the maker’s total sales this year.
L.P., Cheng, general manager of Chi Mei’s branding business unit, said Chi Mei will sell 37-, 42- and 46-inch LED TVs by the end of the third quarter of this year. In the fourth quarter, the company will see LED TVs command 25% to 30% of total sales of LCD TVs, with the company aiming to sell 200,000 LCD TVs this year.
Teco will promote the most popular 42-inch LED TVs; but due to insufficient supply of the LED panels, Teco will not begin selling LED TVs until June or July this year. The company claims it had sold 120,000 LED TVs last year and aims to exceed such performance this year.
BenQ will launch 42-inch LED TVs sometime in June, and expects to see such TVs account for 1%% of total TV sales to challenge 12% market share domestically this year.
