Genesis Enters Japanese Mobile Phone Supply Chain

Taiwan LED chip manufacturer Genesis actively developed flip chip technology this year. Taking advantage of flip chip technology to propel development of high voltage and high powered LEDs in order to break into Japanese brand named smartphone manufacturers’ flash supply chain. The initial periods will introduce one to two new models which are expected to make first shipments in 1Q14. Genesis expects that mobile flash shipments with increase the 2014 YoY revenue 5 percent. 


LED chip manufacturers have been actively development flip chip technology over the past few years. Genesis had a noticeably graduate beneficial effect for flip chip technology during 2013. Genesis entrance into the LED lighting market with flip chip LEDs includes industrial lighting similar to a miner’s lamp, commercial lighting, and outdoor lighting such as street lamps. The company is also reaping profits from the mobile phone flash market at the same time 


Flash for mobile phones needs to be able to go through high voltage and high powered LEDs, so the technology barrier is higher. The LED flash lighting market is mainly dominated by global manufacturers like Philips Lumileds and Osram. Genesis relies on their subsidiary’s flip chip products to enter into the Japanese mobile phone brand name manufacturer’s supply china. The company hopes that in the future the 20 percent increase in gross profit margin for flash LED products can also show in the company’s overall gross profit margin.
