Apple Granted New AMOLED Display Patent

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Apple 59 patents including one related to AMOLED displays, reported Patently Apple.

AMOLED display patent granted to Apple encompasses electronic displays ranging for the company’s electronic consumer lineup including iPhone, iPad, MacBooks and iMac. The patent will allow the devices higher precision in gray level control and increase aperture ratio in AMOLED electronic displays.

Market rumors point that the Cupertino-based company will be switching to the new generation display technology sometime from 2017 to 2018, depending on available OLED supplies in the market.

The granted patent 9,293,512 was filed during first quarter of 2013, and was published today by the USPTO.
