Taiwanese LED companies announced their revenue of January 2019. Epistar and Lextar posted on-month revenue increase while Lite-On reported growth in LED products.
Epistar registered a revenue of NT$ 1.27 billion (US$ 41.16 million) for January which increased by 6.56% MoM but dropped by 32.4% YoY. Impacted by the trade dispute and political uncertainty, business growth in the global LED market is not expected by the industry players. To cope with the sluggish market, Epistar has focused on Mini LED backlight products targeting high-end display applications.
For vertical integrated LED company Lextar, its January revenue came to NT$ 852 million (US$ 27.61 million) with an on-month growth of 19.1% and on-year drop of 12%. Lextar has continued to drop off its lighting business and push development of Mini LED backlight products, automotive lighting and integrated photoelectrics modular products. The company also aims to speed up the commercialization of its I-Mini RGB Display Module.
On the other hand, Lite-On announced that its LED business grew by more than 10% with the increasing shipment of invisible LED components and automotive LED lighting products. The consolidate revenue of the company for January was NT$ 15.61 billion (US$ 505.89 million) and 16% of the revenue came from the division of photoelectrics.
