New Wave of Management Resignations in China’s LED Industry

China’s LED industry has been hit with another wave of resigning managers in August, according to a LEDinside report. In the aftermath of the industry’s major manager turnover during March and April this year, more than nine senior managers have left in the last two months (from June 1 to August 5). Chairmen, vice CEOs, deputy general managers, interim member of the board of supervisors and others have stepped down, due to personal reasons. Below is a list of senior managers that have walked out.

Ocean King Lighting Technology (Ocean King) Supervisor Resigns

Ocean King announced last Wednesday the company’s member of board supervisor Changming Li resigned, due to health issues. Li will not be holding any other positions in the company after his resignation.

Li owns 740,000 company shares, and faces a 36 months lockdown period, which bans trading of shares. His resignation will have no effect on the company board operations, and the number of board members is above the minimum legal requirement. Li’s resignation is already effective.

Changfang Lighting board members and Deputy General Manager step down

Changfang Lighting announced two company officials resigned on Aug. 1, 2015. Company board member and deputy General Manager Zihua Deng, and company board member Zixian Deng quit their jobs. The two board members attributed their resignation to personal reasons, and resigned from their roles as deputy general manager and strategic policy committee. The two men will no longer hold any positions in the company after their resignation.

As of Aug. 6, 2015, Zihua Deng owns 76.71 million company shares, and Zihua Deng holds more than 58.44 million shares. The two major company shareholders promised they will not trade; commission an agent to manage their company assets; or repurchase any publicly issued shares within the next 36 months.

Nationstar Deputy General Manager steps down

Nationstar Deputy General Manager Ruitian Chen submitted his resignation letter on July 10, 2015, according to a company statement issued on July 14. Chen cited personal reasons as his decision to leave the company. Chen will no longer hold any company positions after resigning. His resignation will be immediately effective, according to legal regulations.

Chair of Changfang Lighting Board of Supervisors resigns

Lingbao Meng, the non-employee supervisor and head of Changfang Lighting’s Board of Supervisors has resigned, due to personal reasons, stated the company on July 10, 2015. Following his resignation, Meng will no longer hold any other company positions.

The former head of the company’s board of supervisors has a 0.08% stake in the company, or about 565,597 shares. Meng will follow related regulations in the management of his shares in the company. Changfang Lighting will be processing the related papers and applications starting from July 12, 2015.

A new replacement for Meng will be appointed as soon as possible, since the number of supervisors will drop below minimum member requirements stated according to China’s Company Laws and Articles of Association. Once the Shenzhen Stock Exchange approves the company’s application, the new supervisor will be chosen through shareholders vote. Before shareholders vote on the new supervisor, Meng will continue to fulfill his duties as a supervisor as outlined by related legal regulations and Articles of Association.  

Hongliopto’s Executive Vice President quits

Hongliopto’s Executive Vice President Yusheng Liu submitted a resignation letter on July 6, 2015 to the company board. Changes in job responsibilities was the main reason behind his resignation, said Liu. His resignation is immediately effective, and Liu will continue to hold the position of General Manager at Hongliopto’s wholly owned subsidiary Ledia Lighting.

Liu’s holds 87,650 restricted stocks in the company, which amounts to about a 0.04% share in the company.

Mason Lighting Board Member Xiaoyan Luo steps down

Xiaoyuan Liu, a board member of Mason Lighting, submitted her resignation letter to the board, stated the company in a press release on July 2, 2015. Liu will not be holding any management positions after her resignation. Her resignation will be immediately effective. The company will have to find Liu’s replacement to maintain a nine member board under the company’s Articles of Association.

Tong Cui quits role as Ocean King Supervisor

Tong Cui, a member of Ocean King’s supervisor board has resigned from her role as a supervisor, stated the company on June 19. Although, she will no longer be a member of the supervisor board, she will continue to work for the company. She currently holds 300,000 shares in the company and will not be able to sell her shares during a 36 month lockdown period.

Her resignation will have no impact on the company supervisor board structure, stated Ocean King in a press release. Cui’s resignation as supervisor board member is to take immediate effect.

Lianovation Supervisor Yibei Hu resigns

A member of Lianovation’s board of supervisors has resigned, stated the company in a press release on June 6, 2015. The supervisor Yibei Hu resigned, due to personal reasons. To ensure the supervisor board’s smooth operations, the company’s worker union elected Wenna Xu as the company’s new supervisor, and her term will be as long as other supervisors.

Moso Power Deputy General Manager steps down

Moso Power’s Deputy General Manager Xiliang Wang had completed all resignation procedures by June 1, 2015, stated Moso Power. Wang will not be holding any positions in the company after his resignation. His resignation was effective as of June 1, and will have no negative impact on the company operations.
