Panasonic Idemitsu OLED Lighting Showcases Products for Residences

Recently, at Lighting Japan 2013, Panasonic Idemitsu OLED Lighting (PIOL) Co Ltd exhibited OLED lighting panels developed for residences.

The company showed a panel that looks like shoji (paper screen) in a Japanese room, a panel designed for wash stands, etc. It plans to release the panels in the spring of 2013. Meanwhile, it announced its line of products scheduled to be launched by fiscal 2018.

The exhibited OLED panels were the "100 x 100" series, a 10 x 10cm OLED lighting panel that PIOL released in November 2012, and the "150 x 50" and "200 x 50" series, which will be launched in the spring of 2013. They come in three color temperatures: 3,000K, 4,000K and 5,000K, but the release date of the 5,000K model has not been decided yet.

The luminous efficiency, brightness and product life (LT70) of the panels are 30lm/W, 3,000cd/m2 and 10,000 hours, respectively. The panels to be released in the spring of 2013 are different from the existing products only in shape, PIOL said.

The company plans to release products with higher specifications in fiscal 2015 and 2018. Specifically, it will launch a product that has a luminous efficiency of 100lm/W, brightness of 5,000cd/m2 and product life (LT70) of 20,000 hours in fiscal 2015 and a product that has a luminous efficiency of 130lm/W, brightness of 5,000cd/m2 and product life (LT70) of 40,000 hours in fiscal 2018.
