[Update] Tridonic Connection Technology Breaks Free from Zumtobel Group

Tridonic is parting with its connector business and will put an increasing focus on its core business and on growth in the LED sphere. In this context, the local management of Tridonic connection technology GmbH, formerly a subsidiary of Tridonic with seat in Innsbruck, has taken over all shares of the company under its own responsibility together with AFS All Freight Systems GmbH, Innsbruck, the internationally operating logistics partner of many years, with effect from 30 April 2014.

The proceeds of the sale will be invested by Tridonic in the development of its innovative range of LED systems. The company’s 97 employees will continue to be employed at the site. The parties have agreed to keep silent about the sum of the purchase.

By 31 October 2014 at the latest, Tridonic connection technology will trade again under its former brand name Electro-Terminal, the name under which the company was established 50 years ago. In order to benefit from synergies also in future, both companies will closely work together within the scope of a cooperation agreement in the area of development. Moreover, Tridonic connection technology will remain a major supplier of the Zumtobel Group.

“For Tridonic, the sale of the connection technology division is an important step towards a focused growth strategy in the LED sphere. This step will enable us to put an even stronger focus on core business and on growth in the field of future technologies. Within the new structure, the connection technology division will remain an important supplier and cooperation partner in development. As a powerful unit with a great team and innovative products, our former subsidiary is now going to set out for independence. With Walter Mittermüller, the company has an experienced managing director, who has been on board for over 25 years. I wish the Innsbruck team lots of success along its way”, says Alfred Felder, Tridonic CEO.

Walter Mittermüller, managing director and now also shareholder of Tridonic connection technology, which produces about 50 % of its turnover outside the lighting sector, states: “As an independent company, we are able to act flexibly and independently on the market and to satisfy the requirements of our customers even better. With our highly skilled team and a new, innovative product portfolio, we are positioned perfectly in the 50th year after our formation. Today already, we supply major customers in the electrical goods and household appliances sectors, and we intend to strengthen that position in future. In doing so, we continue to count on our experienced colleagues, who have been the basis of our success ever since the beginning.”
