SIMTech orders AIXTRON 6-inch Black Magic tool

Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) has ordered AIXTRON AG 6-inch Black Magic Nanomaterial deposition system. The system has been installed and commissioned in the Materials Joining Laboratory.

According to Dr. Wei Jun, Group Manager of SIMTech’s Joining Technology Group, The Black Magic platform will play a vital role in their research into next-generation CNT interconnects, components for chip packaging, FETs, diodes and sensors. The Black Magic system’s ease of operation and automatic deposition minimises their learning curve, and ensures that they are quickly producing high quality material required for our end applications.

In more than a decade’s tenure at SIMTech, Dr. Wei Jun has been responsible for several important developments in the area of CNT materials and devices, in particular, a technique for growing self-assembled 3D networks. This work has earned him and SIMTech worldwide plaudits. His current research interests includes ultra-high density electronics integration and packaging.
