Xodtec Granted New Patent for New Type of LED Lens Supporting Frame

Xodtec Group USA, INC. announced today it has successfully developed of a new type of LED lens supporting frame which is capable of supporting lenses and LED chips of multiple specifications. This frame should greatly reduce the cost of production and component inventory, increasing the product’s competitiveness. The frame structure gained Utility Model Patent Number: M 358248 in July from the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan.

LED is a light source which provides directional illumination and needs to cooperate with lens to distribute light for practical use. It is common to place a supporting frame between the LED chip and the lens to be the center of the whole structure and to secure the lens on the surface of the base. “LED bases manufactured by different companies typically can only be used with supporting frames and lenses specifically manufactured,” stated Wilson Chen, Xodtec director of R&D and Engineering. “It is generally not possible to install a lens with a different illumination angle on the original supporting frame, and therefore another suitable supporting frame is needed which is inconvenient for practical use,” Chen added.

“Xodtec’s patented supporting frame can be installed on various LED bases of different specifications, and it also can be connected with various lenses which have various illumination angles for different purposes. The greatest advantage is users can avoid the assembly restriction that the lens and supporting frame must be replaced at the same time, Users can use another lens and keep the original supporting frame, effectively reducing production costs. This invention can overcome the difficulties of practical use and demonstrates Xodtec’s outstanding R&D ability and creativity,” Chen concluded.
