Agreement Reached on OLED Lighting Joint Venture with Saint-Gobain Group

Nippon Electric Glass Co. (NEG), reached an agreement with the Saint-Gobain Group on launching a joint venture to develop, manufacture and sell glass substrate to IEL (Internal Extraction Layer) for organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting.

To spread the use of OLED lighting, futher improvement of luminous efficiency (light extraction efficiency) is a crucial task. By combining the Saint-Gobain Group’s innovative basic research capabilities in this field with NEG’s technology, know-how and knowledge in glass composition/manufacturing process development, the joint venture will manufacturer and provide the world market with high-performance IEL-equipped glass substrate.

NEG has already developed several kinds of substrates for OLED lighting, including , and ultra-thin glass and , a high refractive index glass and is currently proceeding with sample operations. In partnership with Saint-Gobain Group, NEG will offer attractive solutions with its high-performance glass products in the OLED lighting market, which has high growth potential, aiming to expand its business into the field of next-generation lighting.
