Demand Heating up for LED Lighting in China

Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia announced that the company and Seoul Semiconductor are organizing a series of seminars in November and December to help Chinese firms participate successfully in the potentially huge LED market.

According to the company, interest in LED lighting is heating up in China, where potential energy savings amounting to twice the power output of the Three Gorges dam project are predicted to drive sales to between three and five times current levels over the next four years.

China is already the world's biggest producer of lighting products, according to Avnet. However, its LED manufacturers face significant design and production challenges in meeting local demand as well as catering to international market requirements.

"LED Lighting is still an emerging product in China. However, the combination of a steep learning curve and the rapid pace of technological developments make entering the market doubly challenging." said Francis Lam, Director of Asia Marketing for Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia.

"These seminars are designed to offer insight into the latest LED technologies. They also showcase ways to speed up product development cycles and reduce time-to-market, such as by taking advantage of Avnet Electronics Marketing China's value added services which include electronic solutions, optical solutions and thermal management solutions." said Lam.
