Sampo launched 'Cloud TV'

TV vendor Sampo launched an LCD TV, named Cloud TV, which combined a built-in Internet connection, mobile communications and home entertainment, with content provider 5TV.

In 2010, the company’ TV shipment reached 130,000 units and was expected to increase to 150,000 units, in which LED-backlit models would have a 40% share and Cloud TVs accounted for 30%. Cloud TVs would include 46- and 55-inch LED-backlit models, and a 42-inch CCFL-backlit model and 50-inch plasma TV, which price would be higher than the non-Cloud TV models.

Sampo noted that its Cloud TV had integrated the service platform into the TV chipset, and did not require any external device, which would allow users to use the Internet-connected TV functions without changing usage habits. Also, the Cloud TV could connect to Android or Apple devices and extended its functions to smart phones, computers or tablet PCs.
