Internet restrictions will also be lifted within the zone. The zone approved in August by the Chinese government was established to attract foreign investments.

Taiwan LED packaging manufacturer Advanced Optoelectronic Technology (AOT) performance for 2013 backlight orders is stable. Among the backlight sold, large sized backlights had the best performance. The company has a combined consolidated revenue from January of this year till August of NT$ 4.3 billion, an increase of 35.02 percent from last year. AOT pointed out that since the main markets are in China, Japan, and Korea, entering into the second half of this year customer backlight orders remained steady and has order visibility till the end of this year.

Vertically integrated Taiwanese LED manufacturer Lextar Electronics Corp. has maintained an utilization rate of 80% and order visibility of about 1-1.5 months. Affected by mediocre demands for large sized backlight orders in 3Q13, LED manufacturers are closely paying attention to potential orders from U.S. and Europe Christmas season and stock up prior to the Chinese Lunar New Year. Demands are much better for direct-type LED TV and small/mid sized backlight, according to Lextar. In comparison side-view type LED TV and notebook backlight demands remained low.
