Lite-On Technology and Everlight Electronics, two of the major LED providers based in Taiwan, are reportedly to be supplying SMD LEDs to Korea’s Samsung and LG from the fourth quarter this year. The two companies will supply LEDs mainly for backlights of 46/47- and 52/55-inch TVs to the two Korean TV makers, according to the report.

MH&W International has added new TP-S3LS ultra-low silicone gap fillers to its line of thermal interface materials. TP-S3LS pads contain less than 50 parts per million of silicone while providing 3.0 W/mK of themal conductivity between hot components and their heat sinks.

Scarlet Knights fans this season are being treated to a state-of-the-art, high definition video display at Rutgers Stadium. Daktronics Inc. recently installed the new HD video display at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. 

Rutgers is currently in the midst of a $102 million expansion of the stadium to increase its seating capacity to 56,000. The LED displays are part of that expansion. Last season, three Daktronics ribbon displays were installed along the fascia of the stadium.

Philips Lumileds announced today that it is the first power LED manufacturer to publicly publish LM-80 test report data for use by luminaire manufacturers evaluating the merits of using different LEDs in their solid-state lighting solutions. The data clearly demonstrates that lumen maintenance performance exceeds ENERGY STAR® requirements by a wide margin as well as documenting lumen maintenance performance under various conditions. Prof. Hwung-Hweng Hwung, the Senior Executive Vice President of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) - Taiwan, on behalf of NCKU, signed a joint venture agreement with a privately owned Taiwan Nitride Material Inc. led by its chairman Mr. H.H. Chang, for the production of aluminum nitride (AlN).
