Philips recently showcased an interactive light Aura at GLOW, a week-long festival of light art that took place in Eindhoven, according to a company blog entry on Exposure.

The LED light creates water ripple effects.

Under the city in motion theme, Philips showcased the interactive LED light that is capable of creating water ripple effects, or interact in a playful manner with users.

The light also responds to sound.

“Aura is a ‘singing light’ that you can play like a musical instrument,” said Paul Thursfield, Creative Director at Philips Group Innovation.

The product is the result of a series of experiments on the role of light and sound in everyday life between Thursfield and Simon Rycroft, an intern from Goldsmiths College.

Using the power of LED lighting and digital sound, Aura can respond to the situation and occasion, positively influencing people’s emotions and state of mind.
