After the two international Explosion-proof certifications ATEX and IECEx (flame-proof and dust- proof) were granted in 2013; THT-EX Explosion-proof LED Lights has again received UL product safety verification and ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) type approval in December, 2014. The ABS type approval helps to solve the demand of safety related equipment from shipping company, insurance company and shipbuilder.

The ship owners in Taiwan purchase around 600 ~ 700 ships a year. However, it has been a big headache for shipbuilders or maintenance man to find equipment which is internationally recognized and safe to use. A safe voyage requires not only ship but also safety related equipment to be recognized by Classification Societies. For example, the Explosion-proof LED lights used on board must also have ABS recognition if the ship was ABS recognized.

Besides, the offshore equipment such as oil drilling rig should be recognized by Classification Societies too. The three biggest Classification Societies in the world at the moment are ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), LR (Lloyd’s Register) and DNV (Det Norske Veritas). THT-EX’s Explosion-proof LED Light is applying for LR and DNV approval after having ABS recognition.
