Lighting Artist Chris Levine Unveils The Geometry of Truth
The Fine Art Society is delighted to present The Geometry of Truth, a new solo exhibition by Chris Levine. The Geometry of Truth represents the latest chapter in Levine’s exploration into the nature of light and perception, using technology and light to draw people towards stillness.
The synchronicity of the universe is determined by certain mathematical constants, which express themselves in the form of ‘patterns’ and ‘cycles’ in nature. Impulses and patterns found in nature and the brain also exist in the technology we have created, and Levine’s work asks some fundamental questions about how we view art and examine life.

Levine’s work has long been an investigation into the ways in which we accept and perceive light, and the effect it has on our sense of being. Levine is interested in light as a principal natural characteristic, through which it is possible to experience fundamental truths in nature. He has worked extensively with laser light, exploring its capacity to both produce illusions and elicit a subliminal response in the viewer. He has pioneered new mediums such as holograms, Laserpods and blipverts, creating new mechanisms and technologies to express his ideas. Levine’s innovative use of these technologies has brought to this field a fresh sensibility, making him a leading player in the field of light art often creating work that defies categorization.
Levine is perhaps best known for producing what is already being described as one of the most iconic images of the twenty first century, Lightness of Being. With light at its core, the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II presented an utterly fresh depiction of the most famous woman in the world: he created the actual experience of seeing someone in a new light – like a revelation.

For his new series, The Geometry of Truth Levine has turned his attention inwards to the purity of form saying, “If numbers are the purest form of thought as Plato states, then geometry is a translation of this purity into visual form.” Sacred geometry has inspired artists for millennia. From nano through to celestial, nature unfolds and life as we know it adheres to principles of divine order manifest in pure geometric forms. Chris Levine’s new works harness a rare purity of color, form and energy. They engage with hypnotic strength, waves of pure light moving through the room and everything within it is touched by a sublime presence. These elements cohere to produce the sensation of expansion into one single moment.
Levine’s Geometry of Truth invites the viewer to step out of life’s noisy kaleidoscope and settle into one frequency, a frequency determined by his composition of laser light set within archetypal forms. The works that result are a meditation on color, which evoke stillness and silence, enveloping the viewer in an immersive and meditative environment. This is art at a zeitgeist moment for mankind. ‘if we as a species meditated it would be a more evolved planet. The future of our kind depends on it. If art can heal then why do anything else as an artist” Chris Levine.
