Obscura Digital and VISA Lights up San Francisco Skyline During Super Bowl 50 with 3D Images

Visa, announced that Super Bowl 50 will serve as a beacon of payment innovation with new experiences activated throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.  As a longstanding sponsor of the NFL, Visa will showcase the future of payment technology at Levi’s Stadium, the NFL Shop and at its corporate headquarters located in the heart of Super Bowl City. Fans, cardholders and Visa’s clients will have a front row seat in the transformative world of payments, using the latest mobile and in-app technologies that are redefining the world of commerce.

Innovative Game-time Payment Experiences:  Visa has teamed-up with the NFL and the San Francisco 49ers to outfit the entire stadium with close to 700 NFC-enabled, point-of-sale terminals that make paying quick, easy and fun. At Super Bowl 50 fans will be able to swipe, tap or click-topay using their mobile device at point-of-sale.  Moreover, they can easily order drinks from their seats using the Super Bowl 50 app featuring Visa Checkout as a payment option in partnership with VenueNext, CenterPlate, Heartland and CyberSource.

“We were thrilled to be the first team Visa sponsored after their NFL renewal last year,” said Al Guido, Chief Operating Officer of the San Francisco 49ers.  “We designed Levi’s Stadium to be a forward-looking venue that was continually adaptable to advances in technology. With Visa as our partner, the addition of the latest in payment technology ensures that claim by enabling our customers to pay for concessions and merchandise quicker and more efficiently.”

And fans who visit the NFL Shop at the Moscone Center, near the NFL Experience, can see mobile payment demonstrations that showcase how to load and use their Visa card within Samsung Pay and enjoy in-the-moment discounts on purchases.

“We have been working with Visa throughout the season to provide NFL fans with new, innovative payment experiences that make paying in-stadium, online, and in-the NFL shop, quick and easy,” said Brian Rolapp, EVP Media, NFL.  “Our efforts will culminate with Super Bowl 50, which will represent our most advanced payment environment to-date.”

Iconic Digital Skyline Projections:  In celebration of the Super Bowl taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area -- a city globally recognized for its innovation and technology prowess -- Visa has created a digital art installation that will be projected nightly onto the facade of One Market office complex, located on the Embarcadero, where Visa has its company headquarters.

“With Super Bowl City centered at the edge of the San Francisco Bay, we were honored that Visa, one of San Francisco’s leading technology companies, has chosen to provide what promises to be an incredible nightly program paying tribute to the NFL, the teams, and this fabulous region that is hosting Super Bowl 50,” said Keith Bruce, CEO of the Host Committee for the Super Bowl.

The Visa Digital Skyline Projections kick off on January 30th and will illuminate the San Francisco skyline with vibrant images and animations that honor Bay Area city landmarks, along with footballrelated iconography that highlights recent innovations in electronic payments today. Powered by 34 high-watt projectors with the ability to display dynamic imagery more than 260 feet high, the nightly show, designed by the award-winning, San Francisco-based creative studio, Obscura Digital, aims to capture the beauty, innovation and competitive spirit that defines the city.

“As a proud Bay Area employer and sponsor of the NFL and 12 of its teams, Visa is excited that Super Bowl 50 week has finally arrived,” said Ryan McInerney, President, Visa Inc.  “We’re thrilled to be the Official Payment Service of the NFL, and to bring a number of exclusive payment and digital experiences to the millions of people who either call San Francisco their home, or are here to be a part of Super Bowl 50.”
