Acuity Brands Tunable White LED Luminaire Wins School Planning and Management Magazine’s Award

Acuity Brands announced that its BLT Series Tunable White Luminaires from Lithonia Lighting® won the “Platinum” award for School Planning & Management magazine’s 2016 New Product Award program. The New Product Award program “honors the outstanding product development achievements of manufacturers and suppliers, whose products or services are considered to be noteworthy in their ability to enhance the learning environment.”

The BLT Series Tunable White Luminaire system allows the light’s color temperature to be easily adjusted to optimal light levels for specific classroom activities. For example, warm lighting provides a more relaxing environment for tasks like reading or to calm the students when their energy levels are high. Conversely, cooler lighting is best suited for rigorous activities like test-taking.

“Lighting can impact students’ mood and behavior. Tunable white lighting gives teachers control over the classroom lighting so they can change the lighting based on the task at hand which can positively influence student concentration and focus,” said Tricia Foster, Director, Education Vertical Market Development, Acuity Brands.  “We’re delighted that School Planning & Management recognized the benefits of tunable white lighting by recognizing our BLT Tunable solution as a platinum product.”
