It’s reported that Intematix Corp.has added an amber-color LED family to its growing line of packaged device solutions. Its new amber-color product line leverages Intematix' patented phosphor technologies in combination with InGaN blue LED chips to create the breakthrough product family. Blue-excited amber LEDs offer substantial increases in efficiency and temperature stability compared to traditional AlInGaP-based amber LED technologies. Recently, Freescale Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics announced they will collaborate to address the burgeoning market for LEDs. Arman Naghavi, vice president and general manager of Freescale's Analog, Mixed-Signal and Power Division, pointed out that Freescale's LED backlight driver technology is the industry's most compact and integrated solution, their  collaboration with Samsung on LED backlighting in order to help spur further innovation and growth in the LCD market.

The TB62777FNG and TB62778FNG devices are 8-channel, constant current LED drivers delivering a continuous current that can be regulated for superior illumination in the back-lighting of LCD panels, TV displays and notebook PCs, as well as light control for large RGB panel LED displays.

Recently, Philips Lumileds announced that Lansing Board of Water and Light (LBWL), a municipally owned utility in Lansing, Michigan, expanded its trial of LUXEON-based street lamps with the addition of six new fixtures illuminated by neutral white LUXEON Rebel LEDs.

It’s reported that researchers working in the European ROLLED project have developed a flexible OLED element that can be mass produced using roll-to-roll printing technology. The OLED elements can be used to add value to product packages. The new method is considerably cheaper than the traditional manufacturing method. The project was coordinated by VTT, and project participants included INM, CSEM, Ciba, Hansaprint, UPM and PolylC.

The New York City Waterfalls public art installation, by artist Olafur Eliasson, comprised four man-made waterfalls in the New York Harbor situated along the shorelines of Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and Governors Island. Recently, Taiwan display maker Chi Mei EL unveiled its 25-inch screen that's less than a millimeter thick at the FPD International exhibition in Japan on Wednesday. It’s reported that Officials with Raleigh and Progress Energy are testing nine energy-efficient streetlights downtown to determine how well they withstand extreme heat, cold and rain. The last of the nine experimental lamps was installed Tuesday in front of Progress' downtown office tower on Davie Street. If the lights live up to their promise, they could take a significant bite out of Raleigh's $5.3 million annual streetlight bill.

(AnalogicTech(TM)), a developer of power management integrated circuits, announced the AAT3104 and AAT3195, two new 4-channel, charge pump-based LED drivers for larger LCD screens in reduced feature set cell phones and portable systems. Available in compact 2 x 2.1mm packages, the devices offer designers 16-step, 32-step or PWM current control in a space-saving footprint.
