The Hong Kong Lighting Fair continues to be a celebration of light and color, illustrating the dynamic and vibrant development of the lighting industry. According to LEDinside’s first-hand observation, there are several new products and designs that really caught people’s eyes.
3LED Light Bulb, Matrix Holdings Ltd., HK
For example, Hong Kong-based Matrix Holdings Limited exhibited its latest product called 3LED bulbs. Thanks to the unique stick shape, the bulbs have a 330° beam angle and are said to have improved heat dissipation performance. Available in 4W to 10W, the
LED bulbs produce light output from 440 lumens to 1100 lumens.

3LED is engineered with patented technology for higher-than-average CRI level of 90, consistent color temperatures and high efficiency of 90 lumens per watt. The bulbs are available in a variety of bases (E14, E12, E26/E27, B22/B15). This new product is expected to be launched in the coming months.

Matrix Holdings Ltd. is a vertically integrated company, allowing it to control the whole production and distribution steps so that the company is able to produce the 3LED bulbs at a very low cost. The company has 8 factories in Vietnam with a total of over 20,000 employees worldwide.
LED Mosquito Killer, Sino Digit Technology, HK
Hong Kong-based Sino Digit Technology Ltd showcased an anti-mosquito LED bulb which has an output of 600 lumens. It is the first Wi-Fi connected LED bulb which includes a system that traps and kills mosquitoes. It has built-in IR sensors to detect mosquitoes, and it can stimulate UV light and CO2 to lure mosquitoes into a trap.

In addition, the LED bulb is dimmable and programmable. Users can control the bulb from anywhere via an app. The product is expected to enter mass production in September.

The company uses the brand name Bell & Wyson globally. The brand’s connected devices boast human-centric designs that blend aesthetics with innovative technology. The brand is also famous for its Wi-Fi LED smoke detector, which is a 2-in-1 smart LED device that can be easily installed like regular light bulbs.
It integrates a 9W, 600 lm LED bulb with a smoke detector. Users can remotely switch on/off and dim the bulb with an app. And if the smoke detector detects something, users will receive a warning on their smartphones.
LED Lantern with Bluetooth Speaker, Mooni Limited, HK
Mooni is a Swedish design brand that supplies
LED lighting products and speakers that are both decorative and functional. The brand showcased two of its latest products at the HK lighting fair, including the TakeMe Speaker and Ovo Speaker that can be used both indoors and outdoors.

The TakeMe Speaker is a portable lantern and music player connected via Bluetooth. Light is delivered from four LED elements installed beneath the device. The light and sound can be managed by a remote control, achieving a desirable atmosphere at any event.
The Ovo Speaker is also a wireless Bluetooth speaker with LED lighting. The 5W LED light bulb has multiple colors. Users can change colors and play music via Mooni’s remote.
Both devices can be charged with a patented Wire-Free charging plate. It has a workable service over separations as far as 5 cm, which allows users to mount the charger under furniture surfaces.
Decorative Lighting Collection, Lightmakers Decorative Lighting, NL
Dutch lighting company Lightmakers B.V. has been a well-known provider of decorative lighting and accessories for over 40 years. The company now owns a collection of 4,000 items and exports to over 70 countries. Designed by in-house teams in both the Netherlands and China, the hand-made products exhibit unique finishing and quality design and can be customized.

IR-Based Smart System, JPK Korea
JPK Korea, a specialist in IT and LED lighting technology, presented its intelligent LED lighting system using patented IR communication technology. The IR sensors can help achieve motion detection, ambient detection for automatic brightness adjustment, dimming control, and managing lights in group.

The company’s main target markets are the U.S. and Europe, particularly Germany. The Korean maker told LEDinside that its intelligent LED lighting system is used mainly in parking spaces. By identifying this market segment, the company believes this gives them a competitive advantage against global giants like Osram.

In terms of domestic market, JPK Korea said the system has been installed at over 300 sites in South Korea. In 2016, JPK contracted with LG CNS for LED convergence business as well as contracted with Lotte Data Communication for LED lighting efficiency projects.
LED Solutions, Civic Media Co., Ltd., Thailand
The 2017 HK fair also welcomes some first-time participants from the Philippines, Thailand and Turkey. Among them, Civic Media, a Thai LED solution provider, showcased its outdoor and indoor lighting products.

For instance, it offers color-changing LED T8 tube kit for chicken farm lighting. Blue light is used during the daytime as research shows that blue light can help relieve stress and improve growth of chickens. When chicken famers come to work, they can turn on the white light. Users can use a smartphone app to change color and dim the lights.

The Thai government has been eagerly promoting the use of energy-efficient light sources like LED in recent years, which is expected to lead to future growth for LED manufactures like Civic Media.
The exhibition serves as a one-stop platform that makes it easier for businesses to discover opportunities and connect with potential buyers. By coming to the show, companies have the chance to expand their global reach and test the waters to see if customers like their new products.
