All-new additions to the 2016 Conference are the one-day IoT & Smart Lighting Forum, a Light & Health track, three days of 60-minute sessions, a 90-minute off-site tour of the historical San Diego Trolley Station and simultaneous Spanish translation for eight seminars. These new features further expand the range of relevant topics while adding to the extensive spectrum of subject areas.

With 82 courses totaling more than 190 hours of education, this year’s Conference promises another unparalleled opportunity for lighting and design industry professionals to learn from top experts.

The first-ever IoT & Smart Lighting Forum is a one-day series of six 60-minute sessions on Wednesday, April 27 that covers controls, adaptive outdoor lighting, personalized environments, smart lighting and sensors. Sessions are available as a Forum package or individually à la carte.

The new Light & Health track offers specialized knowledge in 60-minute sessions on topics such as circadian lighting, controls, wellness, senior care lighting and nighttime lighting.

Expanding on last year’s popular shorter courses, there are now three days of 60-minute sessions available, covering diverse topics including smart cities, lighting historic buildings in urban environments, lighting for health, cultural light, ambient lighting, mobile lighting, smart outdoor lighting networks, LEDs in performance spaces and more.

In addition to a three-hour workshop held in Spanish, LIGHTFAIR 2016 will now also offer simultaneous Spanish translation services for eight of its most popular seminars.

In the new tour, "Innovative Lighting Design to Modernize the Historical San Diego Trolley Station," attendees will see firsthand how, through an innovative, award winning lighting installation, the historic metro transit station has been transformed into a bright, safe and energy-saving environment with a splash of color.

During the Conference, experts will present sessions within these tracks:

·         Inspiration – Art and nature, along with thought leaders, trailblazers and visionaries dramatically influence creativity.

·         Applications Research – Scientific analysis and research informs recommended practices.

·         Methodology – Processes using collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches can result in effective project solutions.

·         Technology & Tools – New lighting equipment, software, techniques and metrics are introduced every year.

·         New Light & Health – Lighting’s impact on visual performance, as well as physiological and psychological health and well-being.
