The ZEISS Batis 2/25 and ZEISS Batis 1.8/85 are the first full-frame autofocus lenses for Sony's E-mount cameras to be exclusively developed and distributed by ZEISS. With the new SFH 4715AS and SFH 4716AS Osram Opto Semiconductors has increased the output of its IR Oslon Black family – for the second time in six months. This has been achieved by combining the latest chip design with an optimized package and the Nanostack technology, in which each chip has two emission centers. Depending on the type of external optics and the particular application, the infrared light emitting diodes (IREDs) can provide illumination over a distance of more than 100 meters, which make them even better light sources for many camera-based applications.

The efficient LED light sources of the Synios P 2720 family from Osram Opto Semiconductors are based on compact dimensions and a scalable package concept, opening up new design options, particularly for car headlights. They have been optimized for injecting light into light guides, and can be used as daytime running lights, position lights, and in tail light clusters. From the outside, the 15 LED versions can hardly be distinguished from each other, with all of them having the same solder pad design and package dimensions. On the inside, however, various chip sizes with an edge length between 500 µm and 1 mm, different levels of brightness, and a broad range of colors make the LEDs extremely variable.

Philips, the global leader in lighting, has once again partnered with The Home Depot to set the standard for LED bulb affordability with the new Philips LED family of products. The Philips LED A19 product line will be introduced with a 60-watt LED equivalent bulb that costs just $4.97 without utility rebates, making it the most affordable 60-watt LED bulb on the market. MAZeT GmbH presented new customer projects and examples of complex embedded-computing modules at the booth shared with PHOENIX CONTACT at the ‘embedded world’ trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany, from 24 to 26 February 2015. Other products demonstrated included innovative sensor solutions for controlling LEDs. This kind of control is required when the LED light source is an application comprising multiple LEDs. Despite the natural LED drift (temperature, aging), the application is required to constantly generate a specific mixed color or color temperature during the entire lifecycle or in a specific scenario.

FuturoLighting, A company focused on LED lighting solutions, introduces a smart AC LED module operating directly from 230 VAC network. Module integrates AC driver with high PFC above 0,97 offering ON/OFF and dimming functionality with stand-by consumption below 0,5 W. The module was designed in several versions covering basic, triac dimmable, analogue dimmable and smart functionality. Dimensions of the module are 100 x 100 mm with height of 5 mm for basic and 25 mm for smart version. It is first integrated approach of an AC driver together with movement sensor and smart behavior. As miniaturised light sources, LEDs offer great design freedom to luminaire manufacturers. So far, LED drivers which are essential and need a lot more space than the light sources themselves have placed restrictions on the design.
