At LDI 2015, Philips Strand Lighting announces that they will be introducing a number of new lighting and control products to the entertainment lighting industry. Designers of high lumen streetlights, high bay fixtures and downlights are taking advantage of Lumileds latest addition to its successful LUXEON CoB Core Range portfolio, the LUXEON CoB 1216. LED Engin, Inc. announces a new world record in both flux and power density for high power, multi-color LED lighting with its latest LZP family of red, green, blue and cool white (RGBW) emitters. The 25-die, 80-watt emitters deliver 3800 lumens, the world’s highest luminous flux density from a 6.2mm x 6.2mm light emitting area on 12mm x 12mm emitter footprint. UVLrx Therapeutics announces that it has received CE marking to commercially sell its UVLrx 1500 multi-wavelength, intravenous light therapy system in the European Union. The UVLrx 1500 System offers the first intravenous, concurrent delivery of ultraviolet-A (UVA) and multiple visible light wavelengths. Osram is starting with a range of further LED lamp developments for the new lighting season that traditionally begins in October. Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO:6502) today announced that it has developed a new 2-megapixel (MP) CMOS image sensor for automotive cameras, “CSA02M00PB”, equipped with the industry’s first*1 LED flicker mitigation function. Sample shipments start in March, 2016. The new sensor will be exhibited at the 22nd ITS World Congress 2015 in Bordeaux, France, from October 5 to 9.

Osram Opto Semiconductors has expanded the product portfolio of its Osram Ostar Stage family. The four chips of the new high-power LED in red, green, blue and white can be operated at up to 2.5 ampere (DC) thanks to improved chip technologies. This leads to twice the output of 30 watts (electric) from the same chip and package area compared to the existing version, adding another output class to the product family. The new LEDs were developed primarily for use in stage spotlights.

Panasonic Corporation today announced that it has developed a blue-violet semiconductor laser operating at output power of 4.5 W, which is 1.5 times higher than that of the conventional one even at 60ºC, the maximum operating temperature for lasers in general.　 It can also oscillate with the high energy conversion efficiency, which is 1.2 times higher than that of conventional lasers. This has been made possible by Panasonic’s unique double heat flow packaging technology that improves the heat dissipation. This newly-developed laser will help laser application systems, such as vehicle and industrial lighting as well as laser machining equipment, to be made smaller and consume less power.

Power management company Eaton today announced that its light-emitting diode (LED) lighting solutions with an Integrated Sensor Control System is enhancing the lighting performance and aesthetics at the Atlanta-based corporate headquarters of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
