Hong Kong Lighting Fair 2009: US and Europe Leading Brands

Participants and showcased products at this fair are more than last year. The global LED leading makers aimed not only at lighting components but also aggressively tapping into lamp assembly products. They outperformed from 2nd-tier brands by products with higher price along with creative design and high quality.

Philips and Osram, the global leading LED component suppliers, also perform worldly top in their LED fixture products. In this lighting fair, these two brands showed their incentives to promote LED lighting as their main focus. Philips emphasized more on stylish lighting products for indoor design while Osram provided full range products ranging from LED component to lighting products for commercial use and general consumers’ market.

Philips

Philips leading the breakthrough in LED home lighting market with sleek designer Ledion collection
Philips announced the introduction of a stunning range of LED-based products that are set to change the way we light our homes. The sleek Philips Ledino range uses innovative Power LED technology which helps consumers create refreshing and natural light.

The Philips Ledino range features some fantastic breakthroughs in the field of lighting. Philips Ledino provides gentle, natural light thanks to the warm white Luxeon Rebel LEDs. In addition, the puck technology, combining three of these LEDs guarantees a uniform light output. The strength and clarity of light which comes from the range is comparable with a typical 40W halogen light bulb, yet consumes only 7.5W, therefore saving 80% of energy. Not only is the range energy efficient, the minimum lifespan of the light source and electronics is at least 20 years.

The Philips Ledino indoor collection comprises 37 products ranging from ceiling, pendants, and spot and wall lights to desk lights.

Allard Bijlsma, CEO Philips Consumer Luminaires, said: “Increasingly, people are looking for modern lighting that complements the stylish and often contemporary interiors they are creating in their homes. With the Philips Leduib range, we are providing consumers at home with a pure, refreshing light which creates a natural ambience in appealing designs.”
“The Asian market for LEDs is set to explode as everyone looks for new, exciting ways to light their homes. Given our leadership in the fast emerging LED market, Philips is spearheading the introduction of stylish LED-based lighting solutions to address this fast growing consumer demand,” added Bijlsma.

Osram
Small size and high-power are two dynamics of LED trend due to different applications. Osram’s broad product portfolio can meet different requirements from various applications. In the booth, it demonstrates two new LED components, Golden DRAGON Oval Plus and OSLON SSL.

The former one is specifically designed for street lighting. With its oval beam characteristics (80° vertical, 120° horizontal) and integrated long-life silicone lens, it meets the unique requirements for energy-efficient street illumination and minimal light pollution.

OSLON SSL with package size of 3X3mm is one of the world’s smallest LEDs in the 1W sector. It can handle high current efficiently due to its excellent thermal management. All these attributes enables lighting fixture designers having more flexibility to create energy-efficiently and cost saving lighting solutions. The ideal applications include spotlights, desk lights and ceiling floodlights. Osram also displayed COINlight Power down-light with OSLON SSL LED as light source in its booth.

MEGAMAN

MEGAMAN launched its eco-LED lighting products after the release of high-evaluated reflector lamps at beginning this year.
Early this year, MEGAMAN has successfully displayed a series of LED reflector lamps with 7W and 15W noticed by the market to replace energy-consuming quartz lights. After short months, it released two dimmable reflector lamps with smooth dimming effect between 1% to 100%, and step dimming effect of 5%, 20%, 50%, and 100%.

The new products apply to the company’s patent technology of “Thermal Conductive highwayTM” which has a better heat control ability and better performance in brightness. Products life could reach 30,000 hours and guarantee a stable color temperature (bias between -100k to +100k), and they save 80% electricity.
