Samsung Announces the World’s Biggest 3D LED TV

Samsung has announced three new 3D TVs in the US, one of which is the world’s largest 3D LED TV. The set uses LED technology, has a 65-inch screen, Precision Dimming technology, 240Hz refresh rate technology, dynamic 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio and WiFi capabilities. Samsung claims that it costs $6000 and will be available later in August this year.

The demand of LED package for TVs will jump 450% to reach 9.36 billion units in 2010, says LEDinside

In early 2009, after Samsung invested a large budget in promoting the new concept of LED TV, the market witnessed a surge in the replacement of new generation television. According to LEDinside’s latest market trend report, the total shipment of LED-backlit TVs in 2009 was about 3.5 million sets. Of that, Samsung was on the top with more than 70% share; followed by Sharp and LG. Notably, in the first wave of LED-backlit TV competition, shipment ratio of the two Korean companies accounted for 80% of the total.

Lextar Electronics Wins Samsung’s LED Order

Recently, Lextar Electronics Corp., a LED-chip manufacturing subsidiary of Taiwan's largest TFT-LCD panel maker AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), won order from Samsung of South Korea for LCD TV-panel backlights. LED TVs Help Samsung Earnings Soar

Despite the economic downturn, consumers globally bought some 500,000 LED-lit Samsung TVs in the first 100 days of the mid-March launch, according to the company. In the high-end premium market, Samsung took a share of 83 percent in May, up from just 4 percent a year earlier. Samsung Digital Media divisions registered an operating profit of USD$870,100,436 up 657 percent increase year-on-year. Revenue reached USD $9,661,429,999, a 13.8 percent increase year-on-year.

Samsung Introduces Portable LED Projector

Samsung's latest foray into the world of projectors has yielded a gem that measures a mere 147.5mm x 66.3mm x 145.5mm. Known as the SP-P140, this ultra compact LED projector from Samsung is able to support resolutions of up to SXGA (1,280 x 1,024). However, it can only display SVGA (800 x 600) resolution. Other features include a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a 170 ANSI Lumen brightness. The inclusion of a USB port is able to turn the SP-P410 into an impromptu portable media player as it supports a wide range of popular video and audio formats.

Samsung Thursday announced in the U.S. its new 8500 HDTVs with a dynamic contrast ratio of 7,000,000:1. The new 46 and 56-inch models feature local-dimmer LED backlighting.
