Concord's Stadium LED spotlight scoops red dot design & Lighting Design Awards

Concord, part of Havells Sylvania, has impressed the juries of two of the most prestigious international design awards in the space of a week. For its outstanding and innovative design, Concord’s Stadium LED spotlight picked up the 2010 Lighting Design Awards for best Interior Luminaires and the “red dot award: product design 2010”. In the opinion of the 2010 Lighting Design Awards judges, the Concord Stadium LED spotlight “is a new form factor for LED accent lighting.” A total of 4,252 product entries from designers and companies across 57 nations took part in this year’s “red dot award: product design”.

“We are very honoured to win these two distinguished awards. This achievement proves that functionality and design are finally appreciated by the lighting business,” says Nick Farraway, VP & SBU leader for Concord.

“Stadium evolved from the simple thermal management properties of LED diodes and the desire to deliver optimum efficiency and performance. The square finned form achieves the greatest possible cooling of the LED area with the least amount of surface area and material. The ground-breaking integration of the driver components between the lenses helps add to Stadium’s slim appearance, making it a truly innovative design in LED spotlighting,” explains Tony Lawrence, Concord Design Manager.

The Concord Stadium is an innovative low energy LED spotlight suitable for a wide range of commercial lighting applications from museums to galleries and retail spaces. The Stadium portfolio comprises two versions, Stadium EVO and Stadium PRO. Both have excellent colour rendering, run at low temperatures and provide a very long lamp life. An efficient light source with low power consumption. Stadium helps to reduce maintenance costs and save energy.

Stadium EVO is specifically designed for retail and display spaces where textiles and cosmetics are being displayed. The EVO meets the tough demands of these environments by providing high colour rendering, zero UV/IR radiation, reduced maintenance costs and energy savings in comparison with more traditional lamp sources such as low voltage and metal halide. The ultra slim housing stops spotlights from bunching and allows the EVO to discreetly blend into its surroundings.

Stadium PRO is ideal for sensitive environments such as museums and galleries where measures are being taken to protect paintings and artefacts from damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) light. The PRO provides a safe, economical and functional lighting solution for these spaces and introduces individual dimmer controls from an on board potentiometer. This results in further energy savings while the variety of lighting levels provides contrast and effect.
