Samsung Thursday announced in the U.S. its new 8500 HDTVs with a dynamic contrast ratio of 7,000,000:1. The new 46 and 56-inch models feature local-dimmer LED backlighting. Lighthouse Technologies announced to have begun the installation of high definition LED screens at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Working with long time partner TS Sports, 25 Lighthouse LED screens, including four 1080p full HD screens on the center hung display, will be installed at the facility. Energy Focus, Inc. announced yesterday that it has been selected to receive a $1.4 million contract by the Naval Research Warfare Center to develop and produce solid state lighting fixtures for use specifically on Virginia Class attack submarines.
