BetaLED, a division of Ruud Lighting Inc., expands its industry-leading LED luminaire portfolio with a new line of interior architectural downlights, linear and cove lighting luminaires for commercial and high-end residential use. BetaLED showcased the Essentia product line at LIGHTFAIR® International, an industry tradeshow held at the Las Vegas Convention Center May 12 through 14 in BetaLED booth 1031.

The new 'DoubleDome' series from Sharp incorporates three white light SMD LEDs with a colour rendering index (CRI) of 85. A silicone globe top applied directly on the phosphorous, with lens-like moulding, facilitates highly efficient light extraction. Sharp is supplementing its LED lighting portfolio with three new white 'high colour rendering', high-performance LEDs. The 'DoubleDome' LEDs from Sharp already provide suitable light for energy-efficient lighting without secondary optics.

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), today introduced a complete LED lighting driver reference board in collaboration with Lemnis Lighting to help address three important issues: cost, dimming and efficacy. The TPS92010 LED-lamp Reference Board applies TI’s semiconductor technology for general LED lighting and Lemnis Lighting’s expertise in dimmable lighting applications. The board can help speed adoption of energy-saving retrofit LED light bulbs.

Customers and visitors didn't notice the change. Owner Kristine is very happy with the 88% reduction in energy cost. The boutique uses 4 aircos to dissipate all heat, which costed a lot of extra money. In a second phase 27 (300 watt)halogen floods will be replaced with 70 watt PAS-NGL-FL70A WW Compact floodlights.

Everlight Electronics Co. Ltd. announced that the company’s LED-based SL-Dolphin street light will illuminate two streets in the Czech capital Prague within the scope of a pilot project that tests various street lights based on LED technology. The test series, carried out by Eltodo, the Czech lighting designer and nationwide electric installation service company, in cooperation with the city administration of Prague, aims at gathering experience with and accurate information on seven LED street lights of six different suppliers.

Welland's CRS Electronics will see its LED exterior lights showcased at Banff Park Museum. Completed just before the Olympic Torch Relay passed through Banff, the 73 exterior lights enhance security around the museum and highlight the exterior of the recently restored wood structure. The combined electricity consumed by all 73 light-emitting diodes is less than that used by a single 400-watt incandescent light bulb.

Today, E.ON will launch an LED streetlight that consumes up to 70 per cent less energy than standard lights and promises to deliver a "step change" in the efficiency of lighting infrastructure. Siemens has obtained official permission to keep the Siemens Superstar – Munich’s latest landmark and the world’s biggest revolving Christmas star – illuminated until January 6, 2010. In Regensburg, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and Siemens have demonstrated that energy-saving LEDs can provide authentic period-style lighting for a historical centre. The companies have developed a retrofit solution which meets the requirements of a modern lighting system while preserving the atmosphere of a world heritage site. The light sources being used are Golden Dragon Plus LEDs.

Instrument Systems GmbH introduces its new calibration LEDs to its ACS-530 Series. The special feature of the new products is their temperature-stabilized high-power LED, according to the company. The new calibration LEDs enable customers to check their instruments easily and reliably. It also means that the photometric value can be recalibrated by customers in conformity with the CIE International Commission on Illumination.

3XN has designed an LED luminaire – GOTHAM, which uses solar energy for efficient street lighting. Seven lamps have been erected at Bella Center in Copenhagen in conjunction with the upcoming UN Climate Summit The street lamp is a result of a close co-operation between 3XN, Scotia Lighting, EWO and a number of other partners.  The goal was to create a sculptural and CO2-neutral street lighting solution.  The advanced technology results in the street lamps generating more energy than they use.
