LG Electronics Raises Industry Standard with New LED Lighting Solutions at LIGHTFAIR 2014

Led by the most energy efficient LED lighting troffers on the market today*, LG Electronics USA is expanding its LED lighting presence within the U.S. market.  LG is presenting its portfolio of energy-efficient commercial lighting solutions – from new troffers to high-bays to road and street lighting solutions – at LIGHTFAIR International 2014 (booth #7202), the lighting industry trade show that opens here today.

"LG's new LED lighting systems are designed to provide customers unprecedented monetary and energy savings," said Sean Lafferty, head of LG Electronics USA's LED lighting business. "The industry is evolving rapidly, and LG is proud to lead the way with new technologies that also showcase the LG brand with superior aesthetics and light performance."

LED Troffers

LG's LED lighting troffers are the most energy efficient available* on the market, achieving an astounding 140 lumens per watt, Lafferty explained. Such efficiency provides significant energy savings and a rapid return on investment. LG troffers are optimally designed to deliver energy savings of more than 50 percent compared with traditional fluorescent troffers and maintain 70 percent luminance for more than 200,000 hours.

Lafferty said LG's LED troffers are a great option for those seeking lighting retrofit solutions, as they maximize energy savings and can be installed without opening the ceiling in less than 10 minutes. They provide dimming control by ZigBee® wireless communication, enabling easy integration with any open standard third party wireless control systems for even further energy savings. The ZigBee feature allows for installation cost savings. LG's troffers are available in 2'x2' and 2'x4' configurations as either lay-in or retrofit fixtures to provide flexible installation options.

LED High-Bay

Designed as a long-life solution for industrial and commercial applications, LG's LED High-Bay technology delivers the equivalent lumen output of a 400w metal halide high bay with just 240w. It is equipped with an outstanding optical system with a low-glare diffuser at 120 or 240 watts, while delivering beam angles of 50 and 85 degrees to adjust to any ceiling height, ideal for warehouse and factory applications. The LG High-Bay system is also beneficial for commercial applications given its easy installation and available Occupancy Sensor and ZigBee based wireless control options.

LED Road and Street Lighting

LG LED Road and Street lighting optimizes the visual environment for drivers and pedestrians while helping to ensure their safety. LG Road and Street lighting solutions are available in four different configurations to provide flexibility for a wide range of street and commercial parking lot applications. Each model is equipped with smart and efficient wired control options to control light intensity, providing customizable lighting solutions for optimal brightness and light distribution.

LG's street lighting models are equipped with a unique convection technology that allows airflow to efficiently cool all LED modules and keep them at low temperatures, which is rated for  100,000 hours of performance. They save up to 55 percent on energy compared to traditional street light fixtures without sacrificing performance, all while maintaining a longer lifespan when compared to traditional street lighting.  Its sleek design provides a modern aesthetic, while its tool-less entry makes it convenient to install and maintain.

Technology Leadership

Demonstrating its global LED lighting technology leadership, LG also is showing its new "smart bulb" and LED tube lights at LIGHTFAIR International 2014:

The LG LED Smart Bulb can be connected directly to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth or WiFi and controlled with a free Android® or iOS® app. Typing security mode when leaving one's home will cause the Smart Bulb to begin cycling itself on and off automatically at different times until the owner returns. The LG Smart Bulb offers three modes of operation that can be personalized for each individual: Sleep Mode, Absence Mode and Convenience Mode.

LG's LED tube is the ideal replacement for typical fluorescent linear light bulbs. The LED tube provides 106 lumens per watt and uses 44 percent less energy than the traditional 32-Watt fluorescent tube. LG provides the LED tube in two configurations, including the one tube-one driver and two tubes-one driver, which are essential for commercial applications. The LG tube uses an external driver that also has optional ZigBee wireless dimming control.
