Although, IR LEDs was one of its focus at the lighting show, there was only a poster listing the company’s product’s line up at its booth.
Everlight is one of the major IR LED chip suppliers in Thailand, said the company’s Singapore office Sales Director Nicholas Choong.
“We are mostly supplying IR LEDs for remote control applications, such as those demanded by Toshiba carriers,” said Richard Chiu, Association Section Chief, Overseas Division, Emerging Market Management Department, Everlight
The company’s IR LED chips package design are designed by R&D team in Japan to meet client demands, before it is shipped and assembled in Thailand, he added.

Everlight: 2835 LEDs in high demand in Thailand
As for general LED chip market trends in Thailand, the Taiwanese LED company which has been in the Thailand for three years noted 2835 LEDs were still in big demand in the market, especially 0.2w and 0.5w LEDs. Pricing of 2835 LED chips depend on volume demands, explained Choong.
The company first started working with distributors and agents in the Thailand LED market about three years ago, and at the time was mostly collaborating with second tier and third tier manufacturers.
However, they are hoping to gradually become partners with first tier LED manufacturers, such as the largest Thai LED manufacturer L&E by the end of this year. “We are already in talks with L&E,” said Choong.
The company is also supplying high efficiency 5630 LEDs, with a luminous efficacy of 180 lm/W to differentiate from other market suppliers.
In general, Taiwanese LED chip quality is still viewed as more reliable than Chinese LED products, said Chiu.
So far the company has seen strong growth in the Thailand LED market. “Compared to last month, we have seen at least 40% revenue increase in May, and revenue has increased at least 50% in April compared to March this year,” said Choong.

Everlight upbeat about Southeast Asia market developments
The Taiwanese LED company highly values Southeast Asia market, and is projected in the near future it will be an integral part of its future business strategies.
The company is focusing on Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia markets at the moment, and expects explosive growth from the Indian market.
For instance Everlight has been in the Vietnam market for three to four years and is working with some of the largest LED manufacturers there including Rangdong and Dienquang, said Choong.
Every Southeast Asian market is unique in its market demands, Chiu and Choong observed.
Myanmar, for example, usually has much lower spec demands compared to other Southeast Asian markets, explained Chiu. An 18W LED T8 tube light that is usually expected to deliver 1,800 lumens (lm), only needs to reach 1,600 lm in the Myanmar market, he added.
“Everlight CEO Robert Yeh highly values the southeast Asia market,” said Chiu. “We project revenue from the entire Southeast Asia market to grow at least 50% this year.”
