December total revenue for Taiwanese market listed LED manufacturers dipped 0.1% to NT $10.6 billion (US $350.7 million). Revenue for Taiwanese LED chip manufacturers reached NT $3.98 billion (+0.8% MoM) and NT %6.67 billion for Taiwanese package manufacturers, a slight decline of 0.9% MoM.

Taiwanese LED package manufacturer Unity Opto began construction plans for a new factory in 2013 in order to strengthen their LED lighting strategy. The increase production lines for LED lighting modules are estimated to begin production before the end of 1Q14. The injections from the new production line are anticipated to increase the company’s revenue proportions from 23 percent in 2013 to 30-40 percent in 2014.

Unity Opto Chairman Wu Ching-huei during the company’s year-end celebration on the 13th stated that LED lighting will be a thriving industry in 2014, according to the Economic Daily News. The company’s lighting revenue will double this year with January having the opportunity to increase 30 percent month on month (MoM) in revenue.

Taiwanese package manufacturer Unity Opto consolidated revenue for December was NT $455 million (US $15.1 million), a drop of 14.13 percent from November. Total revenue for 2013 reached NT $69.2 billion, a dip of 8.39 percent from 2012. Slack season and client stocktaking at the end of the year impacted December shipments. LED bulb order volumes doubled at the end of the year, due to new clients preordering mobile applications starting in 4Q13 and favoritism from European and U.S. markets.

Taiwanese package manufacturer Unity Opto on November 8th released their 3Q financial data. Affected by 3Q weak backlight demands, 3Q consolidated revenue reached NT $1.73 billion (US $58 million), sliding 13.73 percent from 2Q. 3Q profit dropped 65 percent from 2Q NT $108 million to NT $37.5 million in 3Q.

Unity Opto says that 3Q revenue results were affected mainly by Chinese TV client’s inventory adjustments, and expects4Q revenue to rebound. Benefiting from the new household electricity subsidy and by European and U.S. holiday sales gradual revenue growth is anticipated for 4Q.

According to the revenue reports in June each LED plant has announced, due to the impact of slower shipment in mainland China LED backlight market and inventory adjustment, Everlight, Unity Opto and Lextar have suffered decline in revenue over last month, Everlight and Unity Opto decreased 11.82%  and 14.47% respectively. LED chip packaging company Unity Opto Technology’ revenues for December 2010 were NT$510 million (US$17.51 million), down 8.9% sequentially but increasing 30% on year. The accumulated revenues for the full year were NT$6.77 billion, up 69% compared to 2009. Looking forward, both new LED backlit units and new clients were expected to ship much more in 1Q11.
