LED Engin, an Osram business, has unveiled the LZ7 Plus, the world’s first 50W seven-die LED emitter. The new LED emitter is designed to meet the trends of stage lighting fixtures.

Japan-based electronics company Panasonic has announced that the company will quit production of mercury lamps by the end of June 2020 and promote LED lighting replacement in response to the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

Canadian lighting design company Luminis has lit up the entrance and lobby of Teck Acute Care Center in the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver Canada.

ETi Solid State Lighting, a subsidiary of Elec-Tech Solid State Lighting, has announced that its Color Preference technology was approved by the U.S Patent Office under Patent number 10,091,855. The company has implemented the technology in a range of new LED lighting products.

With the low profit of LED general lighting and the escalating uncertainty of the LED industry due to the trade war, worldwide LED manufacturers are facing unprecedented challenges and have taken different actions to cope with the situation. A Swiss property company SPG gained a new “second skin” of light and vertical offset glass topped with LED façade luminaires developed by German lighting company ERCO. 

Rooted in the U.S. since 1901, Sylvania was acquired by SH Felio Acoustics in 2017 and has become a Chinese company, Felio SYLVANIA, with the focus on the global market. In April, the U.S. government has proposed a list of 1300 Chinese exports and announced to impose 25 percent tariffs on these products, following the Section 301 investigation. Later in July, the Trump administration released the second tranche of additional tariffs on US$ 200 billion worth of Chinese goods. By September 1, importing or producing new halogen bulbs will be banned in the EU market, as the final phase of EU energy regulations comes into effect. The retailers are allowed to sell their in-stock halogen bulbs but cannot reorder. Consumers have no obligation to replace the old halogen bulbs before they expire.
