Optronics International announced that it plans to make its new LED SuperLamp technology available on a variety of lamp categories, including headlamps, back-up lamps, marker/clearance lamps and work lamps, as well as interior cab and trailer lighting. Until now, Optronics’ LED SuperLamp has only been available as a stop/tail/turn lamp.

MicroVision, specializing in innovative ultra-miniature laser display and sensing technology, announced that on August 28, 2017 it sold 1.5 million unregistered shares to a private investor who is also a current shareholder at a price of $2.10 per share, for aggregate consideration of $3.15 million. The last closing sale price of MicroVision’s common stock on August 28, 2017 was $2.19. MicroVision intends to use the proceeds from the issuance for general corporate purposes.

Revolution Lighting Technologies announced the award of a Department of Defense (DoD) contract through the Defense Logistics Agency to supply 2,300 of its twofoot T8 LED tubes to the U.S. Navy. Revolution Lighting was selected because its LED lighting products incorporate Buy American Act (BAA) and Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant components, ensuring they meet the strict requirements needed for implementation into U.S. Navy vessels. Philips Lighting announced it has been awarded a new project with longtime partner Wim Peters, a high wire tomato growers in The Netherlands. Philips Lighting will again provide Peters with LED lighting for two greenhouses that he’s rebuilding after they were destroyed during a hailstorm in June 2016. The company will also provide LEDs for one new greenhouse that Peters is building to expand his business and meet the growing demand for LED grown tomatoes by his customers. The LED lighting will have higher light levels than the twenty kilometers of LED grow lights that Philips Lighting installed in the two greenhouses in 2013.

Matrix light not only contributes to greater road safety but also gives headlight designers greater freedom thanks to its smaller dimensions. This technology is therefore very much on the march. To meet the demands of the automotive industry for more and more compact smart headlights Osram has taken this technology an important stage further with the development of innovative SMARTRIX modules. SMARTRIX is an amalgam of “smart” and “matrix”. “By using new materials for the lens systems we have been able to make the SMARTRIX modules even smaller and more durable, so our customers have even more freedom in designing their headlights”, explained Hans-Joachim Schwabe, CEO Specialty Lighting at Osram.

LG Electronics (LG) is expanding its portfolio of LED projectors with the unveiling of two new models at IFA 2017, Europe's largest consumer electronics and home appliance show. Delphi Automotive PLC announced a commercial partnership with Innoviz Technologies, a Israeli-based company developing LiDAR technology for the mass commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Innoviz's proprietary LiDAR sensing solutions will be integrated into Delphi's systems to provide automakers with a comprehensive portfolio of autonomous driving technologies.
