Toshiba launched WX800 line of 3D LED HDTVs

Toshiba launched new Cinema Series for 2010 includes the WX800 line of 3D LED HDTVs. The WX800 3D series is compatible with Blu-ray 3D specifications, and requires 3D glasses manufactured by Toshiba. They are available in 55-inch and 46-inch sizes and Toshiba boasts the line as their "most meticulously designed and engineered [HDTV] to date."

SETI received a $475,000 award to develop all-LED water treatment

Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc.(SETI) has received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II award which is worth of  $475,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop water disinfection units based on solid state deep ultraviolet LEDs. According to the SBIR program, SETI will design, develop, fabricate and demonstrate advanced all-LED water treatment units with reduced power consumption and extended reliability.

Future Electronics helped the students of McGill University to study lighting project

Future Electronics has cooperated with Montreal-based McGill University in student engineering projects, which relates to four lighting and renewable energy projects designed by 41 engineering students as part of their senior-year course requirements.   One of the projects won the Mechanical Engineering department's annual Harry Pearce Prize used 48 neutral white LUXEON® Rebel LEDs to illuminate an underground train station platform.

BenQ launches VA-panel LED monitors

BenQ launched 16:9 full HD VA-panel LED monitors, the 24-inch - EW2420 and VW2420 LED's and the 21.5 inch VW2220. Compared to a regular Twisted Nematic (TN) panel before notable brightness and color shifts, the monitors offer wider viewing angle (178º/178º), so they can be used along more angles.   The EW and VW series also feature true 3,000:1 native contrast ratio on a true 8-bit panel.

Bayer MaterialScience designed 1.5mm polycarbonate for LED lenses

German Bayer MaterialScience has designed a 1.5-mm-thick Makrolon FR7067 polycarbonate plastic for LED lenses, which can meet the UL-94 V0 ratings for flame-retardant characteristic at half the thickness of most polycarbonate lenses. And it's thought that Lenses made with this material can improve light transmission efficiency to almost 90%.

Autocue exhibits lighting kits and entry-level tripods at IBC 2010

American Autocue, the home of QTV teleprompters, will exhibit a range of LED and softbox lighting kits and its first ever tripod at IBC 2010. It's said that Autocue's dimmable 1000 and 500 LED lights ($749 and $399 respectively) and stands ($49) can be used in any combination to make up the ideal entry-level lighting kit. EdgeDiveTech has designed two new products- the Edge Ultra100 and the Edge Ultra200 to lit up the undersea world . The Edge Ultra100 is a single canister light, which provides 9,000 lumens of light with its 80 degree angle. Hi Score completed the LED bulbs installation for second stage of conversion of lighting in Sunny Isles

Hi Score has completed the replacement of approximately 3,500 T8 fluorescent tubes with the EcoGreenBulb T5 Retrofit System at the second stage of the conversion of the Ocean Four Condominium Towers in Sunny Isles.   The conversion began in October 2009 with the replacing of over 1,000 traditional halogen light bulbs to 6W LED bulbs. The world's first all-plastic LED lamp developed by two Japanese companies

It's reported that the world's first all-plastic LED lamp for outdoor illumination is jointly developed by two Japanese companies, Iwasaki Electric Co., Ltd. and Teijin Limited. Iwasaki Electric will release this new lamp by the end of 2010, expecting initial annual sales of 30,000 lamps. Instead of aluminum, the lamp uses a high-thermal-conductivity resin for the housing. And the resin is made by combining Teijin's Raheama(tm) high-thermal-conductivity carbon material with polycarbonate resin.
