Bloomberg has quoted from a filing with a U.S. trade agency that, Samsung Electronics Co. and Siemens AG’s Osram unit have reached a global settlement to end a LED patent fight that Samsung filed against Osram and that was scheduled for trial at the agency on Aug. 13. Osram’s case against Samsung went to trial in July, and the judge was expected to release his findings in October. Birmingham Airport has installed GE Lighting’s 380 LEDs to celebrate London Olympic Games. The LEDs, as well as 38 LED modules, placed inside two sets of Olympic rings, have been installed on either side of the Air Traffic Control Tower. The Maplewood-based manufacturer 3M Co. has intended to launch an LED light bulb that shines like an incandescent but uses 75-percent less energy and lasts for 25 years. PhotonStar LED Makes Progress in Revenue for the first half of 2012

PhotonStar LED has made progress in its revenue for the first half of 2012 up to 30 June, with a 50 per cent increase. According to the company, its revenue rose to £3.82m from £2.54m for the same period in 2011.
