Formosa Epitaxy expands LED capacity

Formosa Epitaxy schedules to expand its LED capacity from 43 MOCVD sets to 81 by the end of 2010. It will raise the capital by issuing up to 150 million shares with a view to a target of around US$ 162.6 million. Before the decision is made, a eholders meeting on Financial options is going to be hold. And the new developments is planned to take place in Taiwan and China.

TSMC will set up a PV Cell Factory in Central Taiwan

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) will in partnership with Stion Corp. of the United States to set up a factory in the Central Taiwan Science Park to produce CuInGaSe2-based (CIGS-based) thin-film solar cells. In this factory, Stion will transfer its CuInGaSe2 (CIGS) PV technology to TSMC in exchange for No.1 pure silicon foundry's pledge to supply it solar cells using the technology.
