According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, due to a potential fire hazard, around 42,000 LED lamps which are made by Maine-based Eco-Story are being recalled voluntarily. When used with a Class II transformer, the lamp can overheat and cause a fire risk. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, but there have been two reports of overheating. It’s said that city of Novato is in the process of conducting a streetlight test to get public feedback in its selection of energy-efficient fixtures. Four LED fixtures have been installed between Rowland Boulevard and Adele Drive, and four induction fixtures were installed between Arthur Drive and Yukon Way. All lights being considered would reduce monthly energy costs by about 40 percent and reduce routine maintenance costs three to four times that of the current fixtures.
