TSMC to expand its business scope in LED production

TSMC recently held a meeting of the Board of Directors, which passed the following resolutions:  1. Approved capital appropriations of US$1,972.3 million to expand advanced process technology capacity at 12-inch fabs. 2. Approved capital appropriations of US$369 million to continue construction of Fab 15. 3. Approved capital appropriations of US$258.1 million to provide specialty technology capacity.

Aixtron receives MOCVD order from INCOTEX Group

AIXTRON AG announced an order for three mass production MOCVD systems for GaN HB-LED production from the INCOTEX Group, a new AIXTRON customer in Bulgaria. INCOTEX placed the order in the first quarter of 2010 and the systems will be delivered from the third quarter of 2010 onwards. The local AIXTRON Europe support team will commission the new reactors at the company’s purposebuilt facility in Bulgaria.

AIXTRON’s Next Generation MOCVD tools to fill Sanan´s Wuhu fab

AIXTRON AG today signed a contract with Sanan Optoelectronics Co. Ltd., on the supply of a double digit number of multiple CRIUS® II and AIX G5 MOCVD systems. The AIXTRON new generation MOCVD systems will be delivered between the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011 and installed at Sanan’s new manufacturing facilities in Wuhu, Anhui, China. Earlier this year Sanan had announced their plans to invest into China’s largest LED manufacturing and research centre capable of operating up to 200 MOCVD systems.

After shipping 50,000-60,000 units in May, the number of Topco Energy Saving System's shipments for July is expected to be 100,000. According to the firm, its current monthly revenues have already surpassed its 2009 full-year revenues of NT$30 million (US$936,227). It has already entered Japan's LED lighting market in the first quarter of 2010, and has intended to expand its sales channels for further development in Japan. In addition, a major Japan-based distributor recently became a shareholder.

Topco Energy Saving System makes full use of Japan's LED bulb market

Topco Energy Saving System schedules to achieve a 20% share of the Japanese market for LED bulbs this year. According to Sunny Tsai , the company president ,the firm with 90% of its sales generated in Japan, has shipped over 100,000 LED bulbs to the country in July alone. What's more, it looks to achieve single-month shipment of over 500,000 units during the Christmas sales season. The firm has commanded an 11% share of the segment in Japan with 6W LED bulbs priced at only NT$349.
