AIXTRON AG today signed a contract with Sanan Optoelectronics Co. Ltd., on the supply of a double digit number of multiple CRIUS® II and AIX G5 MOCVD systems. The AIXTRON new generation MOCVD systems will be delivered between the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011 and installed at Sanan’s new manufacturing facilities in Wuhu, Anhui, China. Earlier this year Sanan had announced their plans to invest into China’s largest LED manufacturing and research centre capable of operating up to 200 MOCVD systems.

Royal Philips Electronics participates in the 1000-Village Solar LED program, an initiative launched by The Climate Group and the One Foundation to provide rural communities in China with energy-efficient solar-powered LED lighting.

After shipping 50,000-60,000 units in May, the number of Topco Energy Saving System's shipments for July is expected to be 100,000. According to the firm, its current monthly revenues have already surpassed its 2009 full-year revenues of NT$30 million (US$936,227). Topco Energy Saving System schedules to achieve a 20% share of the Japanese market for LED bulbs this year. According to Sunny Tsai , the company president ,the firm with 90% of its sales generated in Japan, has shipped over 100,000 LED bulbs to the country in July alone. What's more, it looks to achieve single-month shipment of over 500,000 units during the Christmas sales season. The firm has commanded an 11% share of the segment in Japan with 6W LED bulbs priced at only NT$349.

AIXTRON AG today announced a new order for one Close Coupled Showerhead® GaN based LED MOCVD system from Meijo University, in Nagoya, an established AIXTRON customer in Japan. The order was received earlier this year and the system will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2010 in a 3x2-inch wafer configuration.The local AIXTRON support team will commission the new reactor at Meijo University.

TSMC will set up a new plant with more than $9.4 billion in Taichung, Taiwan. The new plant has a total site area of 18.4ha and will have a building area of 430,000sqm and clean room area of 104,000sqm. It's reported to create 8,000 jobs over the next few years. Fab 15, in Taichung's Central Taiwan Science Park will be TSMC's third GigafabTM, or fab with capacity of more than 100,000 300mm wafers per month, and will also be TSMC's second GigafabTM equipped for 28nm technology.

Arima Optoelectronics Corporation (AOC) has chosen Veeco multiple TurboDisc(R) K465i GaN and E475 Arsenic Phosphide (As/P) MOCVD Systems to support production ramp. According to Marco Kuo, President of Arima Optoelectronics, they choose Veeco's MOCVD systems because of its production-proven reliability and high productivity. Most of the systems will be installed in a new joint venture company, Shanxi Province, Northern China.

Tirupati in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India has participated in the Cree LED City® Program. Tirupati is one of India's important pilgrimage centers and a major economical and education hub in the southern region of Andhra Pradesh. To better light two of the city's busiest roads, Tirupati converted more than 140 street lights to LED fixtures.
