WestPark Capital, Inc.,finished a WRASP transaction resulted in raising a total of $13.6 million for Chinese LED lighting manufacturer, known as China Intelligent Lighting and Electronics. A WRASP is an alternative capital markets transaction process where a private company goes public through a reverse merger, with its common stock trading directly on the NYSE Amex or another senior exchange. China Intelligent Lighting and Electronics gained a listing on the NYSE Amex.

Based on the material shortages, Everlight Electronics Inc., Epistar Corp. and Formosa Epitaxy Inc. suggest that LED supply will not satisfy with the demand till the end of this year

AIXTRON AG today announced a multiple tool order from Sanan OptoElectronics Co. Ltd., headquartered in Xiamen, China. The Sanan order for multiple CRIUS® 31x2 inch tools was placed at the end of 2009. The local AIXTRON support team has successfully commissioned the new HB GaN LED growth reactors at Sanan’s new purpose-built facility in Tianjin in the first two quarters of 2010.

Formosa Epitaxy schedules to expand its LED capacity from 43 MOCVD sets to 81 by the end of 2010. The CAO Group, which is a dental OEM company, broadens licensing of LED dental curing patents portfolio to major dental companies. CAO helped pioneer LED technology in dental curing by using LED as light source. Its patents include LED structures, heat management, and broadband wavelengths for curing dental composites and adhesives. CAO has been licensed 31 U.S. and international patents to date. It has also established expertise in dental curing light manufacturing.

Formosa Plastics Group (FPG) has integrated its supply chain of LED lightings. The major integrated company includes Nan Ya Photonics Inc., Formosa Advanced Technologies Co., Ltd. andFormosa Energy & Material Technology Co., Ltd.

Tekcore Co., Ltd., Genesis Photonics Inc., and Lextar Electronics Corp. launched over NT$11.3 billion expansion plans, which came from syndicated loans. Among the loan, Genesis received NT$1.5 billion from 12 banks, Tekcore secured a loan of NT$1.8 billion with Chang Hwa Bank, and 8 banks agreed to lend NT$8 billion to Lextar.

Unity Opto Technology Co. has tapped supply chains of Japan’s LCD TV brands Sony and Sharp. It plans to start delivery of LED light bars to Sony and Sharp’s designated makers of BLUs  in the fourth quarter of this year, and will be able to attain annual revenue of over NT$8 billion  for the whole year.

Osram releases new flexible, bendable LED light strips LEDsDeco Flex, using for design and decorative residential lighting. In these lightings, with a remote control, a selection of different colors and atmospheric lights can be selected. It also announced the Backlight Power LED light chains for illuminated advertising and backlighting of signs and logos.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) will in partnership with Stion Corp. of the United States to set up a factory in the Central Taiwan Science Park to produce CuInGaSe2-based (CIGS-based) thin-film solar cells. In this factory, Stion will transfer its CuInGaSe2 (CIGS) PV technology to TSMC in exchange for No.1 pure silicon foundry's pledge to supply it solar cells using the technology.

Bright LED made a deal with a Beijing-headquartered state-run corporation for LED billboards measuring 1,400 square meters. It’s estimated RMB17 million. According to the company’s chairman, J.R. Liao, the company`s revenue for May set a new high of NT$523 million. And it estimated the revenue for June will reach NT$600 million and for the entire year to top NT$6 billion.

Delta Electronics Inc. introduced TUV-certified LED lamps to the European Union. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd showed its "SP-H03," a fist-sized external pico projector, and the "SP-F10M," a stationary projector with a brightness as high as 1,000lm (ANSI lumen) at InfoComm 2010, which took place from June 5 to 11, 2010, in Las Vegas, the US. And it plans to release the two projectors within June 2010 in the US.
