Recently, Lextar Electronics Corp., a LED-chip manufacturing subsidiary of Taiwan's largest TFT-LCD panel maker AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), won order from Samsung of South Korea for LCD TV-panel backlights. Carmanah Technologies Corporation,Canadian solar LED technology innovator Carmanah Technologies Corporation has entered into a distribution agreement with the Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC), a member of Hong Kong-based Jardine Matheson Group. It will showcase 12 projects from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region that focus on energy conservation at the World Future Energy Summit at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre beginning today. The global consumption value of HB-LEDs in 2009 was nearly $4.9 billion. The consumption value is forecasted to increase to $15.03 billion in 2015. ElectroniCast Consultants, today announced the release of a new market review and forecast of the global consumption of High Brightness Light Emitting Diodes (HB-LEDs).  According to the study results, the global consumption value of HB-LEDs in 2009 was nearly $4.9 billion. The consumption value is forecasted to increase to $15.03 billion in 2015.

Orb Optronix announced today the company will offer Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Single Pulse LED Characterization through its LED Test and Measurement Lab as standard testing services. PWM and Single Pulse LED Characterization services were previously offered as customized tests for customers. In response to requests from customers, these services have been automated and are now offered as standard tests.

Ruud Lighting Inc. today announced settlement in a copyright infringement lawsuit against Elcast Lighting, Inc. of Addison, Illinois. Ruud Lighting’s complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleged that Elcast Lighting illegally distributed promotional sales brochures containing large portions of BetaLED copyrighted works, even including copying a registered brand (THE EDGE®) to customers and representatives.
